# <phoenix@gentoo.org> (21 Nov 2002) # The huge nsplugins mask. These plugins use # the new layout (/usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins) # and should work in both mozilla and phoenix. =net-www/netscape-plugger-4.0-r2 netscape plugger 5 has been out since 2003, why is this still masked?
Due to no one saying anything about these bugs they will be punted in 1 week with a last rites, since most have been in PMASK for 6+ months (hell some for years ;) )
So? This p.mask entry doesn't make any sense.
Upstream is dead. Can be replaced my mplayerplug-in or totem or xine. Punting in 30 days. Masked
Just a couple of points: Mplayerplug-in is great for movies, and some sound formats, but does not deal with text formats such as .doc and .pdf, which netscape-plugger did and mozplugger fails to do correctly. Totem and xine are also movie-oriented. The obvious substitute, mozplugger, seems to have no stable version. In the present mozplugger, xmms is used - but that's masked and on its way out, too.
I agree, there is no alternative to plugger. Do I really need to start compiling this thing by hand when it's gone???
Please punt this, already overdue...
