Same bug -- I just wanted to add me to the cc list.
I have just redone the regenerated the manifest and digest so this should be resolved in a few hours on the mirrors.
I just tried to reemerge and it is fixed for me now. Thanks!
Weird... I just did a sync and now I'm getting filesize mismatches :-( # emerge perl-cleaner Calculating dependencies... done! >>> Emerging (1 of 1) app-admin/perl-cleaner-1.03 to / >>> checking ebuild checksums ;-) >>> checking auxfile checksums ;-) >>> checking miscfile checksums ;-) >>> checking perl-cleaner-1.03.tar.gz !!! Digest verification failed: !!! /usr/portage/distfiles/perl-cleaner-1.03.tar.gz !!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size !!! Got: 4954 !!! Expected: 4611
I had the same problem as in comment #5, and found that the perl-cleaner-1.03.tar.gz file has different versions on different mirrors. E.g. the version on mirror http://gentoo.chem.wisc.edu/gentoo/ has the size of 4954 bytes, while on http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo/ the size is 4611. Replace /usr/portage/distfiles/perl-cleaner-1.03.tar.gz with the version that has the correct (4611) size, and everything should work.
If this persists, I can bump the version number. I suspect not all of the mirrors caught up with the correct tarball.
Just sync'd. Still present for me.
try rm /usr/portage/distfiles/perl-cleaner-1.03.tar.gz; that fixed it for me.
It is now fixed here. Should be a candidate for closure as soon as the mirrors are sorted out. Thanks for the quick response, Jory.
Same situation with perl-cleaner-1.03-r1: >>> Emerging (1 of 5) app-admin/perl-cleaner-1.03-r1 to / >>> checking ebuild checksums ;-) >>> checking auxfile checksums ;-) >>> checking miscfile checksums ;-) >>> checking perl-cleaner-1.03.tar.gz !!! I fetched the 4.5K version of it and placed it manually into the portage tree and it solved the filesize verification problem Apparently not all servers are in sync I also favor a version bump to push it all over the servers
Same issue as comment #11 . I can understand some mirrors out of sync a few hours... but days?
for those interested, bug 134796 is currently being worked on by arch's. If everyone on this bug is running an arch that's already stable, please pipe up...or actually, if you are on an arch that hasn't gone stable, please pipe up, so i know when we are safe to close this out. Thanks all for your patience. To explain the mirror bit - mirrors don't automatically replace files, so this is a discrepancy i accidently introduced at some point. (yes, i'll concede the mistake). 1.0.4 however should be nice and clean for everyone :/
I found a mirror that works. I am x86-stable on all my hosts, with some individual packages package.keyword-ed (not this one). I'm dropping off this bug. Thanks.
I am x86-stable on all my hosts, with some (quite a few actually) packages package.keyworded (not this one). As a quick workaround I did as per comment #6 and deleted /usr/portage/distfiles/perl-cleaner-1.03.tar.gz then sync'd and emerged perl-cleaner successfully.
I'm on amd64 and having the same trouble :(

It has moved to app-admin/perl-cleaner, and 1.03 was removed already anyway. MD5 verification works, too. Closing.
