This is the first ebuild using the category dev-eiffel. A lot of more packages are on their way.. Gobo is a pseudo-standard set of tools and a classlibrary that is used by most other 3rd-party eiffel-packages. It contains Eiffel- equivalents of C-tools like flex, yacc, cpp (preprocessor) and more.

Can't get around to this anytime soon, I'm afraid.
Hi Per. Thanks for your submission! Unfortunately it is taking long and, as you can see from how it was tossed around and ended up with me, you can guess that we don't have that much manpower nowadays with all the submissions we are getting. It should be getting better now, with all the reorganizational stuff underway, however there is one catch, but follow on for it ;). So, you are proposing to put quite a few apps in here, all of them eiffel related? I think this would warrant a new category, especially now that I seems to remember noticing eiffel going 1.0. Well, I cannot just add a new category and bunch of new packages at a whim, and I hope you can see where I go, especially with those intoriductory remarks ;). Yes, new category needs a new maintainer. Preferably an active person who knows his way around ebuilds and the topic. I processed few of your submissions already and now I got these ones. So I am going to ask you whether you would be interested in becooming an official Gentoo developer in charge of dev-eiffel category? Perheaps I will delegate tcc to you as well. You will be interacting for the most part (especially in the beginning) with me, as I am taking care of "alternative"stuff under dev-lang in general. Well, it looks like lately what I mostly do is finding new developers and spinning off new categories :). However this is a normal thing considering the expansion rate we see now. Anyway feel free to contact anybody else for questions you might have. Oh, definitely you will be in touch with avenj or seemant, who are our developer' coordinators. Please let me know whether you would be interested in my proposal. Then we will need to meet on irc or get in touch via email and I'll try to set you up eventually. I will be sending an announcement about new category (which should be approved and for this I will need a count (with names) of packages you are thinking of submitting) and new developer. On the ebuild itself. I cleaned it up a little (ebuilds should be padded by tabs, no spaces, no whitespace at the end of lines.. ), however I cannnot check it because I am getting this during ebuild ... fetch: >>> Downloading http://fsck.cjb.net/~wigren/temp/gobo-cvs-20021211.tar.bz2 --11:16:47-- http://fsck.cjb.net/%7Ewigren/temp/gobo-cvs-20021211.tar.bz2 => `/usr/portage/distfiles/gobo-cvs-20021211.tar.bz2' Resolving fsck.cjb.net... done. Connecting to fsck.cjb.net[212.75.66.83]:80... failed: Connection refused. !!! Couldn't download gobo-cvs-20021211.tar.bz2. Aborting. Looks like there is something with the host. Can you check its status? Is there a newer version? Would you be interested in updating it? George

Sorry, I don't have much time for this anymore.. :( Too much work and non-computer related private life.. I hope you can find someone who has the time to keep dev-eiffel going! ;) Besides, I've given up on Eiffel for a while.. It's a wonderful language, but until the SmartEiffel developers support .NET/CLR I can't use it because I have to stay compatible with others...
Ok, nobody stepped up in all this time (and I did not get "yes I am interested in having this stuff" responses either) :(. Closing this bug and two others with LATER and reassigning them to bug-wranglers, as was discussed in -dev (in case somebody eventually decides to take on eiffel maintainership, as I understand). George
