Description Andrew Brock 2005-12-21 14:54:23 UTC
The current website for readahead-list that portage points to is this:
http://www.orbis-terrarum.net/
but I can't find any info about readahead-list on it.
Neither can google:
http://tinyurl.com/bjcg3
I googled around and the freshmeat page is out of date:
http://freshmeat.net/projects/readahead-list/
But it did link me to this:
http://research.iat.sfu.ca/custom-software/readahead-list/
which would appear to be the only page that is up to date (although it's nothing more than the source files and a changelog, at least it's something)

it's not wrong, readahead-list was briefly mentioned on my website, but I never did write up anything more than a blog post about it.

The only documentation you'll find is in the tarball and the source itself.
However it should be reasonably self-explainitory that way.

I'm leaving this bug open as a reminder that I should make a webpage for it at some point.

Isn't this the right site?
https://hosted.fedoraproject.org/readahead/
And it seems, that there is a newer version than in portage.

projects.gg.aaron: The very first version of 'readahead' was written by a debian developer, and he dropped the idea after that. I wrote readahead-list very loosely based on his version - and ubuntu+redhat seem to have forked mine again (and haven't fed anything back).

You've said about red hat and ubuntu, what about fedora, whose link I've posted? This seem to be a bit complicated=) And not about readahead-list, but it's functionality, do you know why is readahead-list the only preloaded in portage, I've certainly seen some other ones on the net?

the redhat and fedora ones are identical.
Both RHEL and Fedora use the same SRPMS for some packages last I checked, this is one of them. As for other versions, write an ebuild for them and post a new bug.

If there is no website about this package, we can set it to
HOMEPAGE="https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/No_homepage"
