shrug; you should probably change the computer store...
Is it reproduceable in the same place every time? If you cannot compile ANY programs then it's most likely a hardware problem.

(In reply to comment #3) Strange, something must have gotten screwed up in the beginning. perhaps messed up time settings? Try compiling the newer gcc 3.4.* (unstable) and see if the problem still occurs/ where it occurs. > (In reply to comment #2) > > Is it reproduceable in the same place every time? > > > > If you cannot compile ANY programs then it's most likely a hardware problem. > > > > This is the file compiled again; > > /bin/sh ../../libtool --silent --mode=compile i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -DHAVE_CONFI > G_H -I. -I. -I../.. -DFCS_STATE_STORAGE=FCS_STATE_STORAGE_INTERNAL_HASH -DFCS_S > TACK_STORAGE=FCS_STACK_STORAGE_INTERNAL_HASH -DQT_THREAD_SUPPORT -D_REENTRANT > -ansi -W -Wall -Wchar-subscripts -Wshadow -Wpointer-arith -Wmissing-prototypes - > Wwrite-strings -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 -D_BSD_SOURCE -DNDEBUG -O2 -O2 -march=athlon > -xp -pipe -Wformat-security -Wmissing-format-attribute -c -o rand.lo `test -f 'r > and.c' || echo './'`rand.c > preset.c: In function `freecell_solver_apply_tests_order': > preset.c:487: internal compiler error: Illegal instruction > Please submit a full bug report, > with preprocessed source if appropriate. > See <URL:http://bugs.gentoo.org/> for instructions. > Preprocessed source stored into /var/tmp/portage/kdegames-3.4.1/temp/ccN7RVrc.ou > t file, please attach this to your bugreport. > make[3]: *** [preset.lo] Error 1 > make[3]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs.... > rand.c:19: warning: declaration of `rand' shadows a global declaration > /usr/include/stdlib.h:493: warning: shadowed declaration is here > rand.c:25: warning: declaration of `rand' shadows a global declaration > /usr/include/stdlib.h:493: warning: shadowed declaration is here > rand.h:36: warning: `freecell_solver_rand_get_random_number' defined but not use > d > make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdegames-3.4.1/work/kdegames-3.4.1/ > > kpat/freecell-solver' > make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 > make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdegames-3.4.1/work/kdegames-3.4.1/ > kpat' > make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 > make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdegames-3.4.1/work/kdegames-3.4.1' > make: *** [all] Error 2 > > !!! No response on bug, it does appear to be compiler/hardware issue. Please reopen if this is still an issue.
hardware issue
