While trying to find what was changed in the man-pages package (after emerge -vDatu world), I couldn't find the Changes file. Later look in the ebuild revealed that it is not installed by default. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge =sys-apps/man-pages-2.07 2. less /usr/share/doc/man-pages-2.07/Changes.gz Actual Results: File not there. Expected Results: See that file to check why version bump was needed. Will provide a patch shortly.
Created attachment 65990 [details, diff] Add Changes and Changes.old for install This was tested on x86, but I think will work on all arch-s.
2.07 already installs the Changes files
OK, I saw it in portage now. But since when is there a practice to change ebuilds without adding -r?? to the name? And without even mentioning the changes in the Changelog?? dorf man-pages # grep Header /usr/portage/sys-apps/man-pages/{ChangeLog,man-pages-2.07.ebuild} /usr/portage/sys-apps/man-pages/ChangeLog:# $Header: /var/cvsroot/gentoo-x86/sys-apps/man-pages/ChangeLog,v 1.35 2005/07/20 00:18:16 vapier Exp $ /usr/portage/sys-apps/man-pages/man-pages-2.07.ebuild:# $Header: /var/cvsroot/gentoo-x86/sys-apps/man-pages/man-pages-2.07.ebuild,v 1.3 2005/08/15 02:52:38 vapier Exp $
it's a trivial change, no real gain in forcing a rev bump
