if Acroread 5 plugin is installed, then it's symbolic link in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins will not be substituted with the new symbolic link of Acroread 7 plugin. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge acroread 5 with mozilla plugin 2.emerge acroread 7 with mozilla plugin 3.try to use the plugin
So this is more a portage bug of not replacing symlinks? Why do you have /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins? Its /usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins for me. Do you maybe have an old nsplugins.eclass? I fixed a bug there to get acroread working .. Can you please post your emerge info?

Sorry, I really cannot reproduce this problem :( The portage devs sayd they think its an ebuild problem but that problem was fixed long ago >1 month How long is your last sync ago? Can you please try emergeing again to see if a downgrade/upgrade works?
It does not work on my system properly, too. Can you please post the output of "ls -l /usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins/nppdf.so"? Does # rm /usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins/nppdf.so # ln -s /opt/netscape/plugins/nppdf.so /usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins/nppdf.so help?

ok, whats the problem then if its not the symlink?
Vytautas Liuolia, I think your issue is a different one and it was taken care of in the duplicate bug. And for Lorenzo, I guess the symlink-fix worked as you seem to have vanished .. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 87679 ***
I'm a bit puzzled :) I'm not sure, what was upgraded via automatic emerge world's etc, but now it works fine. As for me, there are no bugs what concerns acroread.
