Description A. Craig West 2002-09-23 17:31:32 UTC
I am trying to install gentoo 1.4rc1 on an IBM Thinkpad 600. During
initialization, the Compaq SMART2 driver oopses, which seems to leave things in
a bit of an incomplete state. After the boot, lsmod shows only 2 modules, osst
(unused) and cpqarray (initializing). Judging by the name, I would guess that
cpqarray is related to the driver in question. I am attaching the output from
dmesg...

I have seen this, and AFAIK you are still FINE to continue installation from
this point.
Comment 3 Michael Espey 2002-10-21 21:59:27 UTC
FINE to continue installation WITHOUT network?
I suggest setting severity to critical or blocker, as installation on a
notebook seems to be inpossible with this issue.

compaq smart2 is network driver???

hrm... on my friend's compaq it werks fine... use a 1.2 CD for your base install
until our next of 1.4_pre CDs comes out with a new kernel.

New livecd fixes this problem
Comment 6 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-25 11:25:07 UTC
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
