Description Mike C. Fletcher 2004-06-23 00:45:20 UTC
FontTools is a common Python module for accessing TrueType font definitions directly from the .ttf file. It's a fairly low-level library intended for use in building tools such as font editors and font converters. It's a dependency of the TTFQuery module (which will be submitted as an ebuild in a few minutes).

FontTools ebuild using the sourceforge site as primary source

Suggested final name would be dev-python/fonttools for the package.

considering this package hasn't had a release since 2002, is probably unmaintained & the last release is still dubbed 'beta' i really doubt if this should've been added. Please make sure a package is a healthy project before adding it.

Apologies if it's incorrect to have submitted the ebuild, but this package is a dependency of an actively maintained project (TTFQuery), and in turn, of OpenGLContext (also actively maintained) and at least a few other Python projects (also using TTFQuery).

The library is fairly low level, and just does what it's supposed to do. Tagging as a release would be nice, but I don't think it's a huge issue. I've asked the developers about moving to release status, but there's not really a lot of extra work to do (at least wrt on the mechanisms used by other projects through TTFQuery).
