Description Alexey Shildyakov 2009-04-24 19:58:47 UTC
x11-misc/googleearth-5.0.11337.1968_beta not show all text in menu, input and "tip of the day". Also i cant type in my codepage.
Comment 1 Alexey Shildyakov 2009-04-24 20:29:36 UTC
I've reinstalled googleearth and got this:
* QA Notice: The following files contain runtime text relocations
 * Text relocations force the dynamic linker to perform extra
 * work at startup, waste system resources, and may pose a security
 * risk. On some architectures, the code may not even function
 *  properly, if at all.
 * For more information, see http://hardened.gentoo.org/pic-fix-guide.xml
 * Please include the following list of files in your report:
 * TEXTREL opt/googleearth/libgps.so
 * TEXTREL opt/googleearth/libgooglesearch.so
 * TEXTREL opt/googleearth/libevll.so
 * TEXTREL opt/googleearth/librender.so
 * TEXTREL opt/googleearth/libinput_plugin.so
 * TEXTREL opt/googleearth/libflightsim.so
 * TEXTREL opt/googleearth/libcollada.so
 * TEXTREL opt/googleearth/libminizip.so
 * TEXTREL opt/googleearth/libauth.so
 * TEXTREL opt/googleearth/libbasicingest.so
 * TEXTREL opt/googleearth/libmeasure.so

Then i have read http://hardened.gentoo.org/pic-fix-guide.xml and have this:
# qfile `scanelf -qylpF%F#t`
x11-drivers/ati-drivers (/usr/lib32/opengl/ati/lib/libGL.so.1.2)
x11-drivers/ati-drivers (/usr/lib32/libaticaldd.so)
media-libs/xvid (/usr/lib64/libxvidcore.so.4.2)
app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-medialibs (/usr/lib32/libxvidcore.so.4.1)
media-video/ffmpeg (/usr/lib64/libavcodec.so.52.20.0)

And now i have 2 questions.
-Should i attach this *.so files?
-Should i open bug report for this programs to fix this collisions?
Comment 2 Rafał Mużyło 2009-04-25 01:33:57 UTC
TEXTREL != collisions and those are either already known
(ffmpeg, xvid), or are of the CANTFIX type (ati-drivers).
It's also not related to your initial problem.

As for that, you've most probably failed to set things
correctly in hal - check your xorg log,
you'll probably find a line reporting setting layout to 'us'.
Comment 3 Alexey Shildyakov 2009-04-25 16:05:36 UTC
I haven't found report about layouts in Xorg log. And i don't know how i edit settings in hal about.

Please post your "emerge --info".
Which locale are you using?

I've the same bug, but I have NVidia Graphic card and no errors or warnings while emerging Google Earth. Btw, it is all OK in 4.* version.
This bug on the same place even if install GE in home directry (not from portage tree).
I think, it is bad encoding in /opt/googleearth/lang/ru.qm file. I don't know, how to fix this file, because it is binary :(.
Comment 8 Vadim A. Misbakh-Soloviov (mva) gentoo-dev 2009-05-03 17:08:55 UTC
I found: bug is hiding in {install_path}/libQt*so* files. If I replace this files to files with the same name from 32bit (!!!) system with same locale, as mine - it is working. 64bit libs from mine system aren't working.

to bugposter:
If you need, I can post here needed 32bit Qt4-libs.
