After lots of hard work we're ready for 2.6.27 to go stable. It includes the usual mix of fixes, features, and new hardware support. We do have a few open regressions remaining, but all have been reported upstream and will continue to be attacked. This release solves several bugs which we were unable to fix in 2.6.26: #209786 #232643 #238153 #239182 #242090 #245364 #248745 Please mark stable as soon as possible, since we won't be doing any more 2.6.26 releases.
Current stable nvidia-drivers (x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-173.14.09) fails building here with new kernel version with the following error: In file included from /var/tmp/portage/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-173.14.09/work/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-173.14.09-pkg2/usr/src/nv/nv.c:14: /var/tmp/portage/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-173.14.09/work/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-173.14.09-pkg2/usr/src/nv/nv-linux.h:107:27: error: asm/semaphore.h: No such file or directory make[3]: *** [/var/tmp/portage/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-173.14.09/work/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-173.14.09-pkg2/usr/src/nv/nv.o] Error 1 make[2]: *** [_module_/var/tmp/portage/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-173.14.09/work/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-173.14.09-pkg2/usr/src/nv] Error 2 NVIDIA: left KBUILD. nvidia.ko failed to build! make[1]: *** [module] Error 1 make: *** [module] Error 2
That's a bug in nvidia-drivers, not in the kernel. Please file a bug with the nvidia maintainers. I gave them plenty of notice that 2.6.27 would go stable on December 15th. Thanks.
Stabilize vanilla-sources as well, thanks.
x86 stable
amd64 takes the lead!!!
arm/ia64/sparc stable
Both stable on alpha. I know it's not been 30 days (and we're not CC'ed) but I've been using both for a while now on different machines.
ppc/ppc64 can't really do anything about the openafs issue (bug #236438), at least wrt to vanilla. If we want to reverse the patch in gentoo-sources, we'll do it in that bug. Marked ppc/ppc64 stable.
HPPA skips 2.6.27 as it's evil.
(And closing.)
