I ran into problems compiling x11-drivers/ati-drivers-8.552-r2 due to disabled "CONFIG_IA32_EMULATION" in my kernel. This is documented as bug 248910.

I propose to let the ebuild check for this option to be enabled for amd64. If it's not, it should die with a hint how to fix it.

Heh, i didnt intend to close this one yet, but test it, will respond when i get to mine amd64 box :]

This check is not needed in 9.X.
I tested to compile 9.8 without it and it works just peachy so closing as fixed.
