The net-misc/iputils ebuild uses the "doc" USE flag to enable the build of the normal documentation (man pages), which is not consistent with the description of the doc USE flag. The doc USE flag is for extra documentation, not normal documentation. This is probably the right decision because building the documentation pulls in a rather large dependency chain that's not needed at run time. However, I think it's worth a friendly elog or ewarn message, since the behavior is (for good reason) contrary to the normal expectation. Am I off base here? - John

I spoke too soon. Jakub, this is not really a duplicate. It's requesting an elog or ewarn message because of the unexpected behavior, something that isn't mentioned in the other bugs.
