I changed names of eth0 and eth1 with udev rules to eth_wan and eth_lan. Firestarter now shows negative or huge numbers in field Status/Network/Activity. Using: net-firewall/firestarter-1.0.3 sys-fs/udev-098 /etc/udev/rules.d/10-local.rules -------------------------------- KERNEL=="eth*", SYSFS{address}=="00:14:85:32:1d:dc", NAME="eth_wan" KERNEL=="eth*", SYSFS{address}=="00:14:85:32:1c:2c", NAME="eth_lan"
Did you rerun the wizard to regenerate the files in /etc/firestarter?
(In reply to comment #1) > Did you rerun the wizard to regenerate the files in /etc/firestarter? > Yes. I did it once again now. Restarted firestarter service and gui. Still the same.
net-firewall/firestarter was removed from portage.
Well, the removing was not really my Idea. I ran it for quite some time now with no problems. Why is removing neccecary?
No, it was my idea since I was the maintainer. It's gone through the normal package removal procedure and now it's not in portage. You're welcome to continue to run it on your own system but it's no longer supported.
Oh, and here's the message that was in package.mask: -# masked for removal on 20070629 -# Upstream is dead and there are several open bugs: -# http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146620 -# http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=179792 -# http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=180104 -# http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=180105 -# See http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.security.firewalls.firestarter.user/1342 -# for a thread on the mailing list regarding the state of things, including -# mention of the problems with the newest netfilter code.
It's already in my local repo :) and i'll at least save iptables, but it makes me sorry to loose it :-/
