I would like this version of scorched3d unmasked (locally) and tested. If it works fine for you (and it should) then please mark it stable on your architecture. This is in preparation for removing the old openal CVS snapshots and finally making openal sane on gentoo. This package will remain masked until the CVS snapshots are removed, but I would like to have all of the testing done by the arch teams before it becomes unmasked to minimize the impact on our users. Thanks...
Yeah... that was supposed to say blender, not scorched3d... stupid copy and paste... heh
i've played around a bit with blender-2.41-r1 USE="nls" on x86 and didn't experience any problems. however note, that i only did the most basic things one can do with blender, as i'm almost new to this very very feature rich program.
I've done some testing on blender-2.41-r1. It compiles and runs fine. However it didn't work with my xinerama setup displaying on the laptopmonitor but not on the external. On Fluxbox it came without windowdecoration and crashed upon me while i tried to resize the enormous window. Said crash also caused my Xserver to quit. However i was able to edit and import my blender models just fine. I haven't yet tried with the complex and big ones but the normal ones look good. pluto mabi # emerge info Portage 2.0.54-r2 (default-linux/ppc/2005.1/ppc/G4, gcc-3.4.6, glibc-2.3.6-r4, 2.6.17-rc4-20060521 ppc) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.17-rc4-20060521 ppc 7455, altivec supported Gentoo Base System version 1.6.14 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5, 2.4.2 dev-python/pycrypto: [Not Present] dev-util/ccache: [Not Present] dev-util/confcache: 0.4.2-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.17 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1-r2 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.3.13-r2 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r4 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="ppc" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=7400 -mtune=G4 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe" CHOST="powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=7400 -mtune=G4 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig ccache confcache distlocks sandbox sfperms strict userpriv usersandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirror.switch.ch/ftp/mirror/gentoo/ http://pandemonium.tiscali.de/pub/gentoo/ http://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/mirrors/gentoo" LANG="en_US.ISO-8859-1" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/overlays/local /usr/portage/local/layman/science" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="ppc X aalib alsa altivec apache2 audiofile bash-completion bitmap-fonts bzip2 cdr cli crypt cscope curl dri eds emboss ethereal exif expat ffmpeg flac gif glut gpm gstreamer gtk2 idn imagemagick ipv6 isdnlog java jpeg kde lcms libcaca libwww lua mad mng motif mp3 mpeg mysql ncurses nls ogg oggvorbis openal opengl pam pcre pdflib perl php pic png postgres pppd python qt readline recode reflection samba sdl session slang spell spl ssl svg tcpd tetex tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode usb vorbis xine xinerama xml2 xorg xv xvid zlib video_cards_radeon userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: CTARGET, INSTALL_MASK, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS
2.41-r1 stable on ppc64 hrm.. I've commited stable before reading that last comment. unfortunatly I don't have a xinerama setup for testing.
on x86: Compiles fine, though I did notice the following "no such file or directory" message: >>> Install blender-2.41-r1 into /var/tmp/portage/blender-2.41-r1/image/ category media-gfx install: cannot stat `/var/tmp/portage/blender-2.41-r1/work/blender/blenderplayer': No such file or directory cp: cannot stat `/var/tmp/portage/blender-2.41-r1/work/blender/release/datafile': No such file or directory dodoc: release_*.txt does not exist >>> Completed installing blender-2.41-r1 into /var/tmp/portage/blender-2.41-r1/image/ Further it seems to work fine, I followed a tutorial to create a snowman and didn't find or experienced any errors. emerge --info ----------------------------------------------------------------- Portage 2.1-r1 (default-linux/x86/2006.0, gcc-3.4.6, glibc-2.3.6-r4, 2.6.17-gentoo i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.17-gentoo i686 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.15 dev-lang/python: 2.4.2 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r5 dev-util/ccache: [Not Present] dev-util/confcache: [Not Present] sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.17 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1-r2 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.3.13-r2 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=k8 -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d /etc/gconf /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/terminfo" CXXFLAGS="-march=k8 -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig collision-protect distlocks metadata-transfer sandbox sfperms strict test" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.nedlinux.nl ftp://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/os/linux/gentoo/" LINGUAS="en nl" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --delete-after --stats --timeout=180 --exclude='/distfiles' --exclude='/local' --exclude='/packages'" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.nl.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 3dnow 3dnowext X aac acpi alsa avi bitmap-fonts bzip2 cairo cdparanoia cli crypt ctype cups dri dvd dvdread firefox foomaticdb ftp gd gdbm gif gtk2 iconv icu idn jpeg jpeg2k kde kdeenablefinal libwww mad mmx mmxext mozsvg mp3 mpeg mplayer msn ncurses network nls nomotif nptl nptlonly nsplugin ogg opengl pcre pdflib php png posix ppds pppd qt qt3 qt4 quicktime rdesktop readline reflection rtc session sharedmem sockets spl sse sse2 ssl svg tcpd tetex tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode userlocales vorbis win32codecs xml xorg xpm xv zlib elibc_glibc input_devices_keyboard input_devices_mouse kernel_linux linguas_en linguas_nl userland_GNU video_cards_radeon" Unset: CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, MAKEOPTS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
Luca, can we get those errors fixed? If they're in 2.41-r1, then they're in 2.41, too. Thanks
Same errors: install: cannot stat `/var/tmp/portage/blender-2.41-r1/work/blender/blenderplayer': No such file or directory cp: cannot stat `/var/tmp/portage/blender-2.41-r1/work/blender/release/datafile': No such file or directory dodoc: release_*.txt does not exist emerges fine, works (also tried a tutorial).
looks like I miss a commit, anyway fixed and ppc stable
Thanks, Luca! OK, guys. I'm guessing that this works for you, but can you just do a quick check that the package doesn't throw errors anymore? If so, I'll get it stable on x86 and amd64.
Works for me.
the missing parts were just an optional executable, release notes. the missing dir change name and now the ebuild copies the right one again.
All done. Since 2.41 and 2.41-r1 only differ in dependencies, I went ahead and marked 2.41, too.
A bit late, but wanted to confirm the resolution of the missing files issues..
2.41 ebuild was removed, but 2.41-r1 is still hard masked. No more blender for me? ;-)
media-gfx/blender-2.41-r1 is now unmasked
