Yep, exact same problem with release 6.8.0. I usually have 1280x1024 set, which it honors, except only using the upper left portion of the screen. Makes me feel like I have a 17" monitor :( Also, I have a Radeon 7200 as well, using ck-sources kernel. Checked emerge info, looks about the same, will post if requested. Stumped on this one. It looks like we want to be focusing on this bug report: http://freedesktop.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1175 But it doesn't seem to have been picked up by anyone (it's still assigned to xorg-bugzilla-noise). Some redhat people have also been experiencing it, all with the 7200 chipset and the very latest kernel (2.6.8-1.524 or something). Their report is at: http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-test-list/2004-August/msg00514.html I dunno if the x11 people at gentoo can help push the profile of this bug, but it's definitely gonna stop me from upgrading until it's fixed... We'll just follow this one upstream. This bug seems to be fixed in the latest release of Xorg. And a patch to fix this bug can be found here : http://freedesktop.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1559 Created attachment 44468 [details, diff]
freedesktop.org's patch
It's already in 6.8.0-r4. Sorry, I didn't know it. I haven't read the Changelog correctly. Sorry. But thank you for having fixed this bug. *** Bug 72825 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** This appears to be fixed in all current X versions. Marking fixed. |
