Please reduce this bug to the fixing patch.
Add links to the upstream issue and fix. Add "patch" to Keywords:

Take my ebuild from Bug 914764, modify it with some good changes from your ebuild so that it works for 2.4 and 9999.
Upload it on Bug 914764 and explain your changes so we can discuss it there.
