Seems to be related to https://bugs.gentoo.org/688284

Emerging dev-lang/R fails in the installation stage.

I was trying to build this so that I can use gh::guru, but it looks like I'm going to have to switch from lksh provided by app-alternatives/sh::gentoo back to bash temporarily, assuming the cause from the original bug remains the same.

Yeah, it seems that not using is what triggers it; I just tested

Off-topic, but I just realized gh::guru isn't what I thought it was; I thought it was the github cli application...

I can reproduce this with app-alternatives/sh[lksh] but not app-alternatives/sh[dash].
