Can you please try masking the old virtual :0/1? 2. Try the “with explicit reverse dependencies” option on the wiki page 2. Try —-verbose-conflicts. We want to know what’s on the 0/1 side and poke at them to see why Portage thinks they can’t be updated or rebuilt. (In reply to Sam James from comment #2) > Thanks for the report! > > 1. Thanks a lot I see that setup failing to update cleanly are having crossover-bin installed, that depends on: || ( sys-libs/glibc[crypt(+)] sys-libs/libxcrypt[compat] ) Surprisingly, if I do: emerge --deselect crossover-bin Later retry to update world... it goes fine. If I press Ctrl+C (i.e nothing is updated) and I do: emerge --noreplace crossover-bin And, finally, I re-run emerge -avuDN world... it still works fine :O I mean, simply dropping crossover-bin from my world, re-running emerge, later re-adding it to the world, "solves" the issue :| (In reply to Pacho Ramos from comment #4) > I see that setup failing to update cleanly are having crossover-bin > installed, that depends on: > || ( > sys-libs/glibc[crypt(+)] > sys-libs/libxcrypt[compat] > ) > > > Surprisingly, if I do: > emerge --deselect crossover-bin > > Later retry to update world... it goes fine. And yes, sorry for the late reply, go ahead ;) It seems it looks like a dupe of bug 814335 While going to revbump crossover ebuild I wondered if simply making it depend only in sys-libs/libxcrypt[compat] for not needing to rev-revbump it in the future again when all will be migrated. As a side note, it seems app-backup/tsm , dev-db/percona-xtrabackup-bin, games-strategy/knights-demo , net-im/webex, net-misc/nxplayer and net-p2p/resilio-sync packages would suffer the same issue. Should we take advantage of this and update all of them? To reversed || ( ) logic or simply sys-libs/libxcrypt[compat] directly? Thanks for your thoughts The bug has been referenced in the following commit(s): https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=fc4ad25b2b500c6fb8af82a418833c6294ba393c commit fc4ad25b2b500c6fb8af82a418833c6294ba393c Author: Sam James <sam@gentoo.org> AuthorDate: 2021-11-19 17:44:39 +0000 Commit: Sam James <sam@gentoo.org> CommitDate: 2021-11-19 17:44:58 +0000 net-p2p/resilio-sync: flip libxcrypt[compat] dep order Help Portage resolve dependencies a bit easier.
