qtwebkit is unlikely to receive any fixes anymore and trojita is queued for last-rites. (In reply to Andreas Sturmlechner from comment #1) > qtwebkit is unlikely to receive any fixes anymore Noted. > and trojita is queued for last-rites. I don't see the added value for you to make such statements. You are not the developer or maintainer of the product. Nobody is doing the work inside or outside of Gentoo to port this away from qtwebkit. (In reply to Sam James from comment #5) > I’m struggling to understand your point. Nobody is doing the work inside or > outside of Gentoo to port this away from qtwebkit. You make a "joke" on the product Trojita for some reason or the other, stating it is ill and imminent dead will follow. I fail to understand why it was necessary for you to make such statement. If you consider Trojita end of life because it is QtWebkit (opposed to QtWebengine) that is an upstream concern, as long it cleanly compiles and works I don't see any reason to complain, you are the maintainer of the Trojita ebuild the ebuild functions, job well done. When the Qt bugtracker mentions that qtwebkit in gentoo is not build in release mode, and only because of that will trigger the assert, that is a topic to address for the maintainer of the qtwebkit ebuild. I’m not asturm. I’m also not sure if you’re aware but we say “last rites” as the term for removing a package from Gentoo, it’s not meant to be a joke. > > When the Qt bugtracker mentions that qtwebkit in gentoo is not build in > release mode, and only because of that will trigger the assert, that is a > topic to address for the maintainer of the qtwebkit ebuild. asturm is a member of kde@ and hence a maintainer of the ebuild. I suspect he sees no value in investing in an ebuild for a program using obsolete libraries with no sign of a fix on the way. Please be calm and polite when using our Bugzilla or don’t use it at all. (In reply to Sam James from comment #7) > I’m not asturm. I’m also not sure if you’re aware but we say “last rites” as > the term for removing a package from Gentoo, it’s not meant to be a joke. I now see that you replied instead of Andreas. At this moment I don't see any objective reasoning why a functioning package such as Trojita would be removed from the gentoo ebuild repository. If you would like to share some insights on that it is well appreciated. > Please be calm and polite when using our Bugzilla or don’t use it at all. Framing me in this way has no merit. You're in a downstream bug and we are talking in downstream terms. The linked bugs contain all the relevant information and upstream references; it is your choice to either read or ignore them. (In reply to Andreas Sturmlechner from comment #9) > You're in a downstream bug and we are talking in downstream terms. > > The linked bugs contain all the relevant information and upstream > references; it is your choice to either read or ignore them. The gentoo ebuild has no option to specify a release or debug build, as was mentioned in the upstream reply. Could you please reference the comment that has the relevant information that you refer to? (In reply to Stefan de Konink from comment #10) > The gentoo ebuild has no option to specify a release or debug build, as was > mentioned in the upstream reply. And I already told you about the prospect of this getting fixed, nothing more to add. (In reply to Stefan de Konink from comment #10) > Could you please reference the comment that has the relevant information > that you refer to? This bug is linking to other bugs since comment #1. What is the reason this package is not build in release mode as upstream suggests? > (In reply to Stefan de Konink from comment #10) > > Could you please reference the comment that has the relevant information > > that you refer to? > This bug is linking to other bugs since comment #1. You still have not provided any linking bug mentioning release / debug build. Just a lot of packages based on 'deprecated qtwebkit'. |
