Example XFree configuration for TV output
We should first get this working with Xorg It is confirmed to work with Xorg so it maybe is worth a try: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=5878041&forum_id=5014 I wonder if this would be better handled as a USE flag. Any feedback about this? I can't test the functionality of comment #5's patch yet because I don't have access to my desktop until January. Any chance of success reports yet? This package is no longer needed. The driver is present in xorg-7 Can we close this bug please? TV-out is not yet included in the Xorg ATI driver (and probably will never be). There is an unofficial patch against the modular driver availiable at http://shell.world-net.co.nz/~knightw/tvout/7/xf86-video-ati-X11R7.0-6.5.7.3-tvout.patch.gz I tested ist yesterday and it worked perfect with my radeon 9250. Since there isn't any working version of fglrx for my system, the tv-out patch makes the radeon driver a perfect alternative for me. It would be really good for me (and I think also for many others with fglrx-problems) to add this patch to the ebuild as an optional feature. It cannot be worse than fglrx! Why will it never be included in the upstream xf86-video-ati? Please elaborate. (In reply to comment #9) Patch is GPL, X has MIT licence. (In reply to comment #8) > It would be really good for me (and I think also for many others with > fglrx-problems) to add this patch to the ebuild as an optional feature. It > cannot be worse than fglrx! > If someone would like to create such an ebuild and place it here, it's easy enough to throw this into your personal overlay. We don't add third-party patches to X packages as a rule, since it just adds more work for the maintainers and decreases the motivation to have the patches put where they belong (upstream). An ebuild for 6.6 is sitting in the bug I'm marking this a duplicate of. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 127642 *** |
