Description Shad Nelson 2002-08-26 00:49:39 UTC
Problem:

In the ALSA section you are told to emerge media-sound/alsa-driver which is
good. But something needs to be stated... If you recompile the kernel you NEED
to emerge media-sound/alsa-driver again to get ALSA working.

Fix:

Note: If you recompile the Kernel you must emerge media-sound/alsa-driver again
so that your new Kernel recognizes ALSA modules.

Bug 7035 is not a duplicate to this bug. One deals with recompiling ALSA drivers
after recompiling the kernel. The other deals with Making sure your sound drives
are compiled as modules in the kernel. Very different... That's why I filed the
bugs separately.

Fixed in the 1.4 desktop guide.
