The following files are in the distfiles directory of the 2004.2 x86 universal CD -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 39749 Jul 19 23:30 genpatches-2.6-7.43-base.tar.bz2 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 147343 Jul 19 23:30 genpatches-2.6-7.43-extras.tar.bz2 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1041792 Jul 19 23:30 gentoo-sources-2.4.26-r6.tar.bz2 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 30772389 Jul 19 23:30 linux-2.4.26.tar.bz2 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 35092228 Jul 19 23:30 linux-2.6.7.tar.bz2 You should have copied them (and other files) as decribed at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=1&chap=5#installing_from_LiveCD Please run emerge -pf to list the files emerge wants if this does not solve your problem. > Which CD : neither 2004.2 athlon-xp stage3 or universal x86 livecd ? The one you're booted from, i.e. the Universal LiveCD. It's the only CD you can use if you're doing a network-less installation. This is mentioned in the installation instructions. > How to install from a CD : Is emerge required or a simple cp is enough ? > Which procedure to apply to emerge from a CD ? The instructions are available as Xavier pointed out. |
