Emerge of both Packages (0.8.0 and 0.8.2) went fine.  Starting the application startet a Druid which found all channels -fine- but no picture ... I can hear the sound of the channels.
I'm using the  latest xfree, not the xorg 6.7.0 stuff and nvidia 6800 with driver 6111 built with emerge

did you add in /etc/X11/xorg.conf in

Secion "Module"
  Load "v4l"
  [...]

Is this still an issue with 0.8.3/4, just misconfiguration or related to Bug 64929 maybe?

kdetv works on x86 and amd64 ! The bug was not kdetv related ...
