2 issues:

1.  3.14.0-defaults.patch does not apply
2. if the bad patch is commented out the build fails when it cannot find libmutter-clutter.so.1

This is because it is not in the ldcache after building mutter.

running

ldconfig /usr/lib64/mutter

fixed the issue. I assume this is a problem in the mutter ebuild
