I don't think so because it's not even starting it at all. If hotplug were starting it with --quiet, then it would still be up and Samba and MySQL would still work. This problem disappeared after reinstalling Gentoo completley on my desktop but after the first reboot out of my laptop's fresh install it now appears on that. This _must_ be a bug in baselayout or something becasue this is the second machine, on a fresh install, that this happens to. Here's the things that don't, but should, be started at boot: bootmisc, keymaps, acpid, serial, consolefont, net.lo, hotplug, rmnologin, urandom, and numlock. Quite a list. The same list on my desktop. Using the latest baselayout in ~x86 portage. You don't happen to have unresolved config file updates in /etc, do you? If you have a chance, it would be helpful if you could work on debugging the problem since I haven't seen it. Otherwise it's going to take a while for me to give you some debugging patches. no answer, assuming fixed |
