Minimal fix
I am attaching a minimal fix to make this build with more recent autotools (from ~x86 here).
I also needed this for emerging KDE packages; maybe somebody knows whom to CC from that crowd so they can evaluate if this old package is still a needed dep.
FYI: I've installed several packages that don't work with automake-1.13(.1) by simply temporarily unmerging that specific version (ex: emerge -Ca =sys-devel/automake-1.13.1 - don't unmerge all versions!). The package will fall back to using a previous version, in my case automake-1.12.6. A world update will remerge it unless masked. (I needed it to install KDE as well) Hi Chris,

That's a really ugly fix, and I think we should try to make stuff build with what people have installed in some reasonable limits. I hope you filed bug reports for these packages at least ;)

Until that we only can use such workarounds to do what they failed to do. This software will be 10 years old in a month, but maybe they will make a new release if you send them a patch. In the meantime let at least try to patch over the configuration so it can build with what we use. |
