...but as of recently it's installed to /bin/ifconfig, therefore openvpn may fail with errors such as 

/sbin/ifconfig tap0 1.2.3.4 netmask 255.255.252.0 mtu 1500 broadcast 5.6.7.8
Linux ifconfig failed: could not execute external program
