uptimed init.d should create /var/run/uptimed this directory as needed
or pid file should point to var/run/uptimed.pid

This bug should block Bug 332633

yeps indeed. It's even worse as uptimed actually starts/run, but because the pid file is missing, rc-status reports it as 'crashed'. If you /etc/init.d/uptimed start again, ANOTHER uptimed will be started, as shown by ps...
