Description Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2012-11-21 20:00:55 UTC
At a user mode linux image (unstable Gentoo) wrongly configured to get ip address via DHCP instead of having a static address apache2 does not start, but the init script doesn't realized that

n22_uml /etc/apache2 # /etc/init.d/apache2 start
 * Starting apache2 ...
AH00557: apache2: apr_sockaddr_info_get() failed for n22_uml.uml_domain
AH00558: apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1. Set the 'ServerName' directive globally to suppress this message
 * start-stop-daemon: failed to start `/usr/sbin/apache2'

n22_uml /etc/apache2 # /etc/init.d/apache2 status
 * status: started

Please post your `emerge --info www-server/apache' output in a comment.

I acn do that, but please notice, that I misconfigured that system (which is wanted for some other testing purpose) and simply stumbled over this.

tfoerste@n22 ~/devel/wireshark $ sudo ~/workspace/bin/chr_uml.sh -r /home/tfoerste/virtual/uml/gentoo_unstable.ext4
n22 ~ #  emerge --info apache2

Um, the ebuild is called "apache" not "apache2". So the most important bit of output is missing.

ick, I *often* run into this pit fall, here it is (FWIW I triggered the crash AFAICR by sending a different hostname via dhcpcd requests than defined in /etc/conf.d/hostname)

Please re-emerge apache and report back here if this is still a problem.
