In the sci-biology/gbrowse I had a lot more required packages. The official sci-biology/GBrowse ebuild requires much less. Lets come with USE flags to give people a more complete installation. As a startup for the Chado database schema, there is a listing of requirements at:

In sci overlay are for this ready:
dev-perl/Bio-BigFile
dev-perl/Bio-DB-Das-Chado
dev-perl/DBIx-DBStag
