USE=-doc is not available for -9999, because there are no prebuilt docs for -9999. I think that -9999 should continue to always build the manpages (using asciidoc). Well, but this means that for a simple check (eg.: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395487#c14) a running system is forced to install a lot of additional packages with all of the possible impact ... OTOH this works fine for me n22 / # cat /usr/bin/asciidoc #!/bin/sh while [[ -n "$1" ]]; do TXT=$1 shift done touch $TXT :-) If you're running the 9999 ebuilds, you should be prepared to have extra deps. I just needed the rest of the test results from you.
