Hi, This is due to the hal support removal from xorg. (furthermore, hal is to be removed completely soon, and default USE is now -hal) The fix : - make sure you have at least 'evdev' in INPUT_DEVICES in your make.conf (this should be the case since xorg-server-1.5) - mkdir /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d - create /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf, containing Section "InputClass" Identifier "evdev keyboard catchall" MatchIsKeyboard "on" MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*" Driver "evdev" Option "xkb_layout" "<your_keyboard_layout>" EndSection Please read postinst messages. http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/x/x11/xorg-server-1.9-upgrade-guide.xml ...and as a sidenote, <merge key="input.x11_options.XkbRules" type="string">xfree86</merge> was an invalid value. Fortunately for you, evdev driver was ignoring that value. (it's hardcoded to 'evdev' for this driver). thank you :-) > xfree86 was an invalid value sorry, the documentation was not very percise at this point. so i just copy & pasted what google gave me. ( i made a request to include the information of comment #1 right into the xorg howto -> https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=349698 ) |
