Please retest again .64. > Please retest again .64.
I've just tested 2.02.64 and the bug is still there.
The problem is (at least in my tests) that dmeventd is not started by the init script and LVM tries to start it itself.
But instead of searching the dmeventd binary in /sbin/dmeventd, where it has been installed, LVM tries to open /usr/sbin/dmeventd.
It seems like this is an upstream bug, because the default installation path of dmeventd is constructed using the sbin_dir (respectively static_dir) from the configuration process, whereas the default search path of dmeventd is constructed using EPREFIX/sbin.
Anyway I think it would be a good idea to add --with-dmeventd-path=/sbin/dmeventd to the ebuilds.
