New net-wireless/prism54-firmware:1 contains >=2.6.29 firmwares. Tested here on amd64 and x86.

yes, i was. it didnt say exactly what you wanted stabilized. but now its too late and i added ARCHS myself ;-)

If his installs the proper firmware then bug #328327 should be closed? I can test for my hardware. It was working last I checked but as stated in the referenced bug I can only vouch for 'p54pci' and not usb. That system is using a version 3.x kernel and wlan0 starts and connects automatically at system boot with the latest openrc and wpa_supplicant. 

The kernel module is called 'p54' may want to consider a name change?
