xorg-x11 log
in fact there was one small problem, when I reached the KDM login screen the KB and Mouse would not work. I found that: x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev was not emerged. Why would this not be pulled in with xorg-x11? after reading Xorg docs, I find that the black screen of death is really ok, by using: Xorg -config /root/xorg.conf.new --retro you can have the original results of cross-hatch and mouse 'x'. So Xorg and nividia are installed correctly. once again Xorg, why??? Which KDE version? Which X11 version? (In reply to comment #5) > Which KDE version? > Which X11 version? 4.3.3 1.6.5 Could you please try current stable (4.3.5) or 4.4.2? (II) LoadModule: "dri" (WW) Warning, couldn't open module dri (II) UnloadModule: "dri" (EE) Failed to load module "dri" (module does not exist, 0) (II) LoadModule: "dri2" (WW) Warning, couldn't open module dri2 (II) UnloadModule: "dri2" (EE) Failed to load module "dri2" (module does not exist, 0) This looks like a problem with the nvidia drivers. Could you please re-emerge nvidia-drivers, reboot and then try again?! Also, could you please attach your xorg.conf ?! (In reply to comment #8) > This looks like a problem with the nvidia drivers. Could you please re-emerge > nvidia-drivers, reboot and then try again?! even I can google nvidia, module dri, xorg and tell you that this error is meaningless, as nvidia does not need module dri (or dri2) and you simply need to remove those lines from xorg.conf (as I have done on this computer and my 3 other ones). In addition, you seem to forget that X -config and kdm_greet run fine, which they would not do if nvidia drivers were not working. But... I will re-emerge ... ok done - same problem remains Created attachment 227439 [details]
