Can someone place this in portage tree? Maybe mailing the p2p guys will help.

No need to, we get every change to bugzilla over email anyway. I am working on this now, but FYI this is not binary package so I won't use your ebuild at all.

Alas it seems upstream stopped producing source tarball, so this package will turn into binary in the end it seems

Bah, ugly java bundled libraries. Oh well...ebuild is in CVS now, should hit mirrors in a few hours. If you have problems with new version. file new bugs. And thanks for patience.

ebuild in portage fails to emerge, because the dependency dev-java/commons-codec is missing in ebuild.

Ah, sorry about that. I forgot to clean the chroot before final testing. Should be fixed in CVS now. Thank you for reporting this.

Fortunately no, they just don't provide tarballs. Source is on Sourceforge. Some time ago there was someone trying to convince them to release source tarballs. I guess it didn't work out then, but I can try again...
