I started it, selected some/all entries but the KDE menue doesn't contain them.

Known upstream bug. All applications should come with .desktop files nowadays and if they do not, it is a packaging bug regarding the packages including these applications. The proper fix is to remove kde-base/kappfinder from the repository.

If I understood you correctly it has to be removed from kdebase-meta package ?

Removing from the repository means to stop shipping it at all. This probably should have happened with KDE 3 already. Though, what I'm not aware of is, if the user local menu maintenance is in a as sorry/broken state as in KDE 3.

This is being removed from overlay and portage now (since it is broken).
