Xrandr can rotate screen.
It's good. It would be best if one could also rotate the mousepad.

There's already a patch and the issue is descripted here: http://www.helsinki.fi/~rantalai/synaptics/
It was originally meant for ubuntu.


Can you have a look at the patch, fix it and include it in out synaptics?

This has already been discussed on xorg mailing list months ago and although I don't remember the outcome, it'd be best to pick up the discussion there than start implementing this at distribution level.

You are maintainer, but if it would be up to us in x11 team we would close this one as WONTFIX, since we already have policy of not using patches that were not accepted or are considered to be accepted by upstream.

I'll give a good point for implementing this: you need this parameter to rotate you mouse together with screen so that you can use your 7'' 800x480 device as 480x800 to read ebooks but also to access some hidden menus that use 600 or 768 as minimum hard-coded height.

And small-display devices are spreading faster and faster nowadays (netbooks <10'', smartphones, ipad-like, etc.).

I just committed this patch upstream. It will be available in 1.4.1 or at least in 1.5.0.
