Bug 285937

Summary: dev-python/jinja2-2.1.1 and dev-python/sphinx-0.6.1-r1 are circularly dependent on each other
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: DrChandra the Gentoo Person <gentooperson>
Component: Current packagesAssignee: Python Gentoo Team <python>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE
Severity: normal CC: esigra
Priority: High
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: Linux
Whiteboard:
Package list:
Runtime testing required: ---

Description DrChandra the Gentoo Person 2009-09-22 12:38:16 UTC
These two packages each depend on the other:

[ebuild N ] dev-python/jinja2-2.1.1 USE="doc -examples -i18n -test"
[ebuild N ] dev-python/sphinx-0.6.1-r1 USE="doc -test"

Emerging either of them alone with --nodeps results in an emerge failure with each package complaining specifically that the other package is not present.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.sync
2.emerge -NuDav world
3.profit

Actual Results:
mypc ~ # emerge -NuDav world

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Note: I have the "doc" USE flag set, which may be why the package authors did not notice this.

Comment 2 DrChandra the Gentoo Person 2009-09-22 12:58:39 UTC
Adding USE flag "-doc" to dev-util/jinja2-2.1.1 breaks the circular dependency, and it is possible to get both packages installed.
