On 31st of August dcraw ver-8.9.7 was released. The current ~arch version in portage is ver-8.86 which is very old now (29th april, 2008)

I forgot to add, the stable version of dcraw ,ver-8.73, is very,very, old at almost 2.5 years old now (6th Apr, 2007).
