A new version 8.89 of media-gfx/dcraw is available from 
http://www.cybercom.net/~dcoffin/dcraw/archive/dcraw-8.89.tar.gz this seems to fix quite some number of bugs.

attaching a new tar.bz2 file including the below updates.  also, renaming the current ebuild in the portage tree to reflect this new versions works as long FEATURES="-sandbox" is set

dcraw-8.99 was released 25-Dec-2009

Did not find a Changelog, but libraw tells me this about the bundled dcraw-8.99:

    * New cameras: Canon: 1D mk IV, Canon S90; Casio Z750,
      Nikon D3S, Pentax K-x, Sony A-500/550, Fuji S200EXR
    * New color data for Canon G11 and Sony A850
    * Changes in Canon sRAW processing
    * Changes in Kodak metadata processing
    * Changes in uncompressed Fuji files processing (FinePix S5xxx)

I just saw all the duplicates and thought better post here then opening another DUPL ;)
