Sorry, not answering any more! It is the same. I figured out, this only infects quality "draft". So I switched to "normal", waited longer for the printer and forgot the problem. Hmm, ok. I suspect this is not really a cups problem, but one of the underlying driver. What driver settings / what driver do you use for the printer? I've seen this effect myself... we have one of these beasts at the office, I can probably test sometime. I think it's the normal behavior of newer cups versions.
