It looks like you're using a glib library that's too new for vmware-server (which is quite old). Whilst we don't officially support the vmware command in vmware-server (you should be using vmware-server-console, but it's likely to have the same problem), you might try the following work around: $ VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK="force" vmware This is most likely an issue with vmware pre-bundling libraries, and then using some system libraries and some bundled libraries. I'm not sure it's something we can really help fix. Also, when filing bugs, it's requested that you always include the output from the "emerge --info" command... (In reply to comment #1) > It looks like you're using a glib library that's too new for vmware-server yes, I have the last glib-2.18.4, but few minutes ago I emerged glib-2.16.5, get two errors: PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS Hi, did you find any solution? I haven't found anything yet, but Norbert might have got something... It works for me with "VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=force vmware-server-console". HTH, Cheers (In reply to comment #4) > did you find any solution? Yes and no, I simply switched to VirtualBox (emerge virtualbox or virtualbox-bin) which works so great, I forgot about vmware completely. FYI: virtualbox can to use vmware images too. To make it work I used path from here: http://www.monarialx.it/en/vmwareserver in original "install" file I changed: from patch /usr/lib/vmware-server-console/lib/wrapper-gtk24.sh < /usr/lib/vmware-server-console/lib/wrapper-gtk24.sh.diff to patch /opt/vmware/server/console/lib/lib/wrapper-gtk24.sh < /usr/lib/vmware-server-console/lib/wrapper-gtk24.sh.diff and from patch /usr/bin/vmware-server-console < /usr/bin/vmware-server-console.diff to patch /opt/vmware/server/console/bin/vmware-server-console < /usr/bin/vmware-server-console.diff |
