I'm having the same problem. After upgrading to baselayout-2.0.0 and openrc-0.2.2, I am no longer able to dial out using net.ppp0 init script. Dialup also still works for me if I use KPPP. emerge --info: Portage 2.1.4.4 (default-linux/amd64/2007.0, gcc-4.1.2, glibc-2.6.1-r0, 2.6.24-gentoo-r3 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.24-gentoo-r3 x86_64 AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 144 Timestamp of tree: Tue, 22 Apr 2008 14:45:01 +0000 distcc 2.18.3 x86_64-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] app-shells/bash: 3.2_p17-r1 dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7, 2.1.4 dev-lang/python: 2.4.4-r9, 2.5.1-r5 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r6 sys-apps/baselayout: 2.0.0 sys-apps/openrc: 0.2.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.18.1-r2 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.61-r1 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10.1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.18-r1 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.0-r4 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.26 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.23-r3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/share/config /var/bind" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/gentoo-release /etc/php/apache2-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cgi-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cli-php5/ext-active/ /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/terminfo /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="ccache distlocks metadata-transfer parallel-fetch sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-orphans userfetch" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.mirrors.easynews.com/linux/gentoo/ http://mirror.phy.olemiss.edu/mirror/gentoo http://mirror.espri.arizona.edu/gentoo/" LANG="en_US.utf8" LC_ALL="en_US.utf8" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/portage/local/layman/voip /usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.namerica.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow 3dnowext X a52 aac acl acpi alsa amd64 apache2 async audiofile avi bcmath berkdb bzip2 calendar caps cddb cjk clamav cli cracklib crypt ctype cups curl curlwrappers dbus dga dio directfb dri dts dvb dvd dvdread emu-linux-x86 encode exif fbcon ffmpeg flac fortran ftp gd gdbm gif gmp gnutls gpm gtk gtk2 hash iconv id3 ieee1394 imagemagick imlib innodb ipv6 isdnlog ithreads java javascript jpeg jpeg2k json kde lcms ldap ldap-sasl libcaca live logrotate lzo mad matroska mcal mhash midi mime mjpeg mmx mmxext mng mp3 mp4 mpeg mplayer msession mssql mudflap mysql mysqli ncurses network nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin nvidia offensive ogg openal opengl openmp osc oss pam pcntl pcre pdf pdo pear perl png posix pppd pvr python qt qt3 qt4 quicktime readline reflection samba sasl sdl seamonkey session simplexml snmp soap sockets spell spl sqlite sse sse2 ssl suhosin svg syslog tcpd theora threads tidy tiff tokenizer transcode truetype unicode urandom usb utempter v4l v4l2 vcd vorbis wddx wxwindows x264 xforms xine xml xml2 xorg xpm xprint xv xvid xvmc zip zlib" ALSA_CARDS="ali5451 als4000 atiixp atiixp-modem bt87x ca0106 cmipci emu10k1x ens1370 ens1371 es1938 es1968 fm801 hda-intel intel8x0 intel8x0m maestro3 trident usb-audio via82xx via82xx-modem ymfpci" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic auth_digest authn_anon authn_dbd authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache dav dav_fs dav_lock dbd deflate dir disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers ident imagemap include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation proxy proxy_ajp proxy_balancer proxy_connect proxy_http rewrite setenvif so speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="nvidia nv vesa fbdev v4l" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, INSTALL_MASK, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS Created attachment 150794 [details]

First part is starting net.ppp0. Second part is when the on demand connection is initiated.
Also, I used to be able to specify more than one phone number in /etc/conf.d/net but I'm unsure of the syntax now. before: phone_number_ppp0=( "1234567" "1234568" ) Current is which syntax? phone_number_ppp0="1234567 1234568" or? phone_number_ppp0="'1234567' '1234568'" Did this change as well? /etc/ppp/chap-secrets & /etc/ppp/pap-secrets: #Old way username\@myisp\.com * duhPassword #New way?? "username@myisp.com" * "duhPassword" Is this still a problem on the latest openrc? Will close 2011/01/01 if no response. (In reply to comment #8) > Is this still a problem on the latest openrc? > Will close 2011/01/01 if no response. There has been no response, so this is being closed. Just encountered the same problem... For historical purposes, it would be good to note, that removing 'updetach' option from pppd_ppp0 should fix this issue (at least it did for me). |
