the ebuild in tree doesn't eautoreconf nor patches anything. The ebuild you are having problems with certainly is not the one in portage. This is actually the masked package www-client/epiphany currently in portage. I *am* using an overlay of minefield/xulrunner, which may be related, but the version of epiphany is from portage. As reported, emerging the new automake fixed the error I was initially having, but it was replaced with a hang at the line: "checking whether we can compile and run XPCOM programs... " ./configure apparently is running program called "conftest" which does not exit. Killing the "conftest" process kills the ephiphany emerge. Is this related to bug 183680 - which also dealt with a problem emerging epiphany related to this line? Thx, W Your initial report message contains: ***** automake ***** ***** automake --add-missing --copy --foreign Indicating that the ebuild is doing eautoreconf or similar. No ebuild in portage does that. Portage should be telling you from what overlay you are getting it with emerge -vp epiphany. Feel free to reopen if it truly is from portage and you are sure of it..
