1) Make sure you run "emerge -pvDuN world" when updating 2) try to run "revdep-rebuild" (install app-portage/gentoolkit if necessary) 3) please provide the output of "emerge --info" here you might want to check that you have the latest libpng. Not the 1.2.21-r2 release at least, also if you could try with 1.2.22 (maybe it's unrelated, try remi's comments first) Created attachment 134519 [details]

Debug file created by nautilus
I had a suspicion that nautilus may be the problem, as I have had similar issues with nautilus in the past. Lo and behold, this debug file was dumped by nautilus upon my most recent failure. I have already tried cleaning and re-emerging nautilus, to no avail.

I see you have dbus errors in that nautilus log file. How are you starting your gnome session? Is /etc/init.d/dbus running? Created attachment 134545 [details]

Output from revdep-rebuild
This is a text file containing the output from the revdep-rebuild command. It appears that a package is not available in portage.
I have attached a new nautilus debug error log that was created after running the dbus service. Also, I tried to rerun revdep-rebuild and it failed, complaining that dev-cpp/libgnomecanvasmm-2.12.0 is not available. I emerged that package, and the latest version in portage is version 2.16.0. according to the log, nautilus is receiving SIGABRT (this is bad :)) do you have hal installed/running ? as you can see in the output of revdep-rebuild, if the ebuild doesn't exist anymore you can try the -X option that will try to merge a more recent version of the application. This is the default in recent versions but not in the one you have. Created attachment 134563 [details]
Latest version of nautilus error log.
I have ensured that hal is installed and running, and I have now sucessfully completed a revdep-update (I believe). This is the latest error from nautilus.
any news with 2.20.3 ? Please get back to us if you need/want any help to sort this out. Thanks |
