I have a similar issue using wpa_supplicant-0.5.6 together with madwifi-ng-0.9.2, though I don't get any error messages: nexus ~ # /etc/init.d/net.ath0 start * Starting ath0 * Loading networking modules for ath0 * modules: apipa arping ccwgroup macchanger macnet rename wpa_supplicant essidnet iptunnel iproute2 pppd system dhcpcd ip6to4 * wpa_supplicant provides wireless * iproute2 provides interface * pppd provides ppp * dhcpcd provides dhcp * Configuring ath0 for MAC address 00:30:4F:39:29:1D ... [ ok ] * Starting wpa_supplicant on ath0 ... [ ok ] * Starting wpa_cli on ath0 ... [ ok ] * Waiting for association [ ok ] * Backgrounding ... nexus ~ # /etc/init.d/net.ath0 status * status: inactive Just like the bug reporter I don't understand why reverting to wpa_supplicant-0.5.5 didn't resolve the problem... I even tried to reload the madwifi kernel modules. Using wpa_gui I managed to get an association manually with both wpa_supplicant 0.5.5 and 0.5.6. emerge --info: Portage 2.1.2_rc2-r2 (default-linux/x86/2006.1/desktop, gcc-4.1.1, glibc-2.4-r4, 2.6.19-rc6-g1b9bb3c1-dirty i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.19-rc6-g1b9bb3c1-dirty i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2400+ Gentoo Base System version 1.12.6 Last Sync: Sat, 25 Nov 2006 18:50:01 +0000 ccache version 2.4 [disabled] dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7, 2.0.30 dev-lang/python: 2.4.3-r4 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r5 dev-util/ccache: 2.4-r6 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.17 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.60 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1-r3 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.3.13-r4 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.17-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O2 -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/share/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/alias /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/gconf /etc/java-config/vms/ /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O2 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks metadata-transfer parallel-fetch sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://pandemonium.tiscali.de/pub/gentoo/ ftp://sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/pub/Linux/gentoo ftp://ftp.tu-clausthal.de/pub/linux/gentoo/ http://gentoo.intergenia.de/ http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" LINGUAS="en en_GB de" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --delete-after --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/home/bigfoot/programming/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.de.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 3dnow 3dnowext X a52 aac aalib alsa arts audiofile berkdb bluetooth bzip2 cairo cdr cli cracklib crypt cups curl dbus divx4linux dlloader dri dts dv dvd dvdr dvdread eds elibc_glibc emboss encode esd faad fam ffmpeg firefox fla flac fortran gd gdbm gif gnome gpm graphviz gstreamer gtk gtk2 hal iconv idn imagemagick imap input_devices_evdev input_devices_keyboard input_devices_mouse ipv6 isdnlog jpeg jpeg2k kde kernel_linux ldap libcaca linguas_de linguas_en linguas_en_GB mad mbox memlimit mikmod mmx mp3 mpeg ncurses nls nptl nptlonly nvidia offensive ofx ogg opengl oss pam pcre perl png ppds pppd python qt3 qt4 quicktime readline reflection samba sdl session speex spell spl sse ssl svg tcltk tetex theora tiff truetype truetype-fonts udev unicode userland_GNU userlocales v4l video_cards_nv video_cards_nvidia video_cards_v4l video_cards_vesa video_cards_vga vorbis wifi win32codecs wmf xml xml2 xorg xv xvid zlib" Unset: CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS Heh. INVALID ;) * WARNING: your old configuration file /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf * needs to be moved to /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf Yeah comment #2 poster just caught that. Once again, it would be nice if such warnings came AFTER the emerge was done of more than one of item, but i know this has been gone over and over (and there is a glep, #43 I think, for such a thing). My appologies. Followed the warning and all works now, thanks! See: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154862 Invalid due to failing to miss warnings. Closing :) |
