In order to finish the 2.1 series off and get it stable, we have basically chosen to freeze trunk, and it seems we are not branching; I agree with that.  Thus this bug is to track things that are not for 2.1_stable, but for 2.1.1, or 2.2 (whatever we end up migrating to next).  There are some bugs w/patches lying around that can go in that are more minor fixes and feature requests, as opposed to actaul bugs in 2.1.

For those things that are good for 2.1.1/2.2, please have them block this.
