Could you specify what are you actually requesting? If that's a live CVS ebuild, then it's WONTFIX. Other than that, it's not really obvious to me. rtl8180 in portage is stable but doesn't compile with kernels >2.6.12 (not sure for actual version). However manually installing the driver from CVS works. I think rtl8180 is worth having it in the Portage tree since IMHO it is a good piece of software (better than ndiswrapper because it uses open driver, is more stable, easier to use and finally native). If it needs to be released in order to get considered should I request r8180 developer to release a version? And then, will it to be considered to be added to the portage? (In reply to comment #2) > If it needs to be released in order to get considered should I request r8180 > developer to release a version? And then, will it to be considered to be added > to the portage? Well, there's been no release since 0.21, so really there's nothing to put into portage. CVS snapshot or new release would be really nice, so that we could do something about this actually. ;) That'd be great :) I emailed the autor of the rtl8180-sa2400 and asked him wheter he could release a snapshot but I got no answer at all. I would be really happy if someone took care of this piece of driver. Now, it seems that even the author doesn't care :/. I wonder if it is possible to create an ebuild that will get the CVS version via CVS. If in portage, it would be masked of course. Anyways, thank for your help. *** Bug 122340 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** |
